Cruisin Classics is proud to offer to you this spectacular 1948 Cadillac Series 62 Custom Sedanette. 1948 was the first post-war year of Cadillac production and they were a great seller with 34,213 Series 62's produced. This mild custom restomod example comes to us dressed in a beautiful maroon paint with loads of gleaming chrome. The paint is very good driver quality with small imperfections. Up front is a bulbous hood accented with a chrome center spine that culminates with a “flying goddess” hood ornament. Beneath the ornament at the forward lip of the hood is a colorful Cadillac crest badge and chrome signature “V”. The impressive 3-tier chrome eggcrate grille is flanked by round headlights in bright bezels and curved rectangular turn signals, also framed in chrome. Beneath is a large gleaming chrome bumper with stylish bumper guards. Chrome continues around the split windshield and on the body-color sun visor. This Cadillac looks just as cool from the side as it does from the front, with a fastback roof line and rear tail fins inspired by the Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter plane. Bright trim is everywhere on the sides as well with grooved front and rear fender gravel guards, body side molding, rocker molding, window trim, drivers side mirror, and door handles. Perhaps the biggest focal point on the sides other than the fins are the chrome wire wheels with colorful Cadillac crest centercaps, all wrapped in Ultrex AS4 wide white-wall tires – a perfectly fitting complement to this elegant car. Fender skirts partially obscure the rear wheels, but they're easily removable if you'd like to change the look. Around back, the rear bumper and taillights are the stars of the show. The large chrome bumper curves up at the sides to accent the chrome ringed taillights at the top of the iconic fins, and the drivers side taillight flips up to reveal a hidden gas fill. The 3-piece rear window is framed in chrome and the lower lip of the trunk wears a colorful crest badge and “V”, just like the hood. Peaking out from beneath the bumper are a pair of chrome exhaust tips.
Lift the hood to find a very tidy body-color engine bay with a very welcome surprise – a 472ci V8 Cadillac engine! This big block was rebuilt in 2017 ($3,500) and a chrome March front-runner system was installed ($2,600). Hooked up to the belts are a chrome A/C compressor, a chrome alternator, and a chrome power steering pump. Topping off the block are chrome valve covers, an aluminum Edelbrock Performer Intake, an Edelbrock AVS2 4-barrel carburetor, and a body-color Cadillac air cleaner. The radiator has been updated with an electric fan to keep things running cool even on a summer day. The big V-8 is mated up to a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear tires via a 10-bolt rear end. Stopping power is provided by power front disc and rear drum brakes. Exhaust flows through cast manifolds and a newer exhaust system before exiting the rear with a tasteful rumble.
Open the drivers door to reveal a simply beautiful tan interior illuminated by under-dash courtesy lights. The door panels are tan vinyl with tan carpet bottom borders, armrests, and period window cranks and handles. Above the panels is body-color steel accented by a centered Cadillac crest. All of the interior windows are bordered with chrome trim for a classy look. A tan leather bench seat in very good condition welcomes you inside for a comfortable ride. The manually adjustable seat folds forward to allow rear passengers easy access to the rear bench seat with handle-straps on the B-pillars, seatbelts, and a fold-down center armrest. Ahead of the driver is a white 3-spoke OEM steering wheel with chrome horn ring and Cadillac crest center-hub on a tilt column with column shifter. The steering wheel perfectly frames the dome-shaped chrome-trimmed gauge cluster that features a 110mph speedometer at the top portion with a very cool white-tipped arrow that points to your speed. Beneath the speedometer is an odometer (44,126 N/A miles showing) and a machined aluminum section that contains gauges for fuel, battery, temperature, and oil pressure (oil is inop.). Also in this section is a pull-switch for the lights and a start button that now serves as a horn button. On the left side of the gauge cluster behind the chrome trim is a knob that operates the working windshield wipers. Similarly, on the right side in the same location is a knob that operates a 3-speed fan. On the right there is also an inoperative push-button that we believe is for the washer fluid sprayer. Tucked just under the chrome trim to the bottom right is a green push-button that offers cold A/C when pushed in and hot heat when it's in the out position. Air flows through a vent near the base of the steering column and an under-dash vent on the passenger side. The dash itself is body-color steel with a chrome speaker grille at the center. At the top of the grille are a dash courtesy light and a cigarette lighter side by side and beneath it is a pull-down glovebox. Ahead of the passenger on the dash is a chrome-framed analog clock (inop.) and under the passengers seat is a battery cut-off switch. Underfoot is nice tan carpeting and overhead is a tight tan felt headliner. Back in the trunk you'll find dual courtesy lights under the lid and carpet on the floor and back-wall. The back-wall also features a white vinyl drop-down door with Cadillac badging that allows access to a small hidden storage area. There are also carpeted floormats for the interior and a black console box with armrest and cupholders currently in the trunk. Also included with the car is a folder of receipts for work done to the car during the last 7 years of ownership (including the engine rebuild).
If you're looking for a stylish cruiser with great looks, power to spare, and a nice array of creature comforts you're going to love this '48 Cadillac! Tasteful and desirable upgrades abound on this stunning car that needs nothing but a new owner. One thing is for sure with this beauty – you're going to attract attention wherever you go!
